Celebration of National Voters Day 2020 - Rohini College of Engineering and Technology

 The National Voters’ Day (NVD) was celebrated in RCET Campus, to mark the Foundation day of Election Commission of India, which was established on 25th January 1950.

The 10th year celebration started with rally from Vatakottai Junction which was inaugurated by Mr.Baskeran ,DSP, Kanyakumari. Govt. officials, public and students of RCET participated. The main purpose of this celebration is to encourage, facilitate and maximize the enrolment, especially for the new voters. The day was utilized to spread awareness among students or the new voters on the voting procedure and its benefits.


Followed by the rally, Dr. Morphy Alexander, Dean of MS University Constituent College, Palkulam delivered the inaugural function followed by the Welcome address by Dr.Rajesh.R, Principal of RCET.


Pledge was undertaken by the participants as this year marks an important milestone in the history of Indian democracy as Election Commission of India (ECI) completes 70 years of its journey.


The Awards for the Best Polling Station Officers was distributed for their outstanding performance in the conduct of elections in different spheres and contribution in the field of voter awareness and outreach.


The theme for NVD 2020 is ‘Electoral Literacy for Stronger Democracy’ focusing on voter education and renewal of citizens’ faith in the electoral process. Celebration successfully ended with National Anthem.
